| Graduation Speech 08A |
| By IMI Alumni Norman Cross
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, distinguished guests, faculty, staff, and graduates of semester 2008A....
It is definitely such an honour and pleasure to be given the opportunity to stand up here and deliver my own rendition on of what I think is a graduation speech. I agonized over writing this speech for a long time, because I felt like nothing I could say would make a difference. I tried to think of something insightful to say today, but it may be too insolent to imagine that my short life experience here at IMI is enough to impart any great wisdom. Most graduation speeches say something that the beginning of the rest of our lives starts today. Well, that may to true to an extent or for some of us here today, but it seems most of us are already ahead of ourselves, as in we`ve gone off to either further our education or start off on our respective careers. In short, we are preparing for the next chapter of our lives to unfold. It`s true that throughout our collective education experience, we`ve been worked like busy bees with assignments and literally packed to the shoulder in the dining hall. But aside from the occasional tediousness of everyday life here at IMI, I reckon we`ve had a pretty good time on more than one occasion, but most of the time, it involved after school hours I want to take this opportunity to thank some people. Firstly, I wish to extend my appreciation and gratitude to all who are present here today. The people who care and have made a distinctive contribution in our lives are present right here, right now. The greatest reward any of us could have received is having the people who influenced all of our lives here to witness this incredible milestone. Whether you are parents, faculty, family members, or friends, you have all played an integral part for us to reach this goal of acquiring our respective certifications. Also, I never imagined that I would get the distinct pleasure of meeting people and making extraordinary friends who come from so many walks of life. The knowledge and understanding that I have gained from working and interacting with my fellow peers has taught me so many things that I would not have thought possible. Secondly, I would like to thank the faculty and staff members here at IMI for showering us with their undivided time and attention to make sure that our education as well as stay here in school was as smooth-sailing as possible. I believe that the skills and knowledge that were instilled in us by them would definitely benefit us in our careers, if not, in the way we lead our lives. Lastly, to all of the graduates present here today, I would like to thank you once again for your comradeship and friendship throughout this semester. I wish you all the best in your future endeavours and I look forward to working with you all again in the near future, in the dynamic and ever-changing industry that is, hospitality. |
